Specter is a site specific installation piece made of hundreds of cypress knees. Cypress knees are part of the root system of the cypress tree, which grows in marshy areas, and can be safely harvested with proper care. Specter uses the cypress knees to create a visual surprise. Instead of using the shapes as their expected stalagmite or stalactite form would suggest, Tamara wall mounts the pieces to interact with the space in an unanticipated way. The knees have been carefully cleaned and plasticized with a silverypearlescent finish. And surprise! After dark, the knees glow with a carefully researched and applied rare earth pigment that allows them to emit their own ethereal light. Specter can be many dimensions, but is pictured here at approximately 8 feet by 12 feet. Specter is made from reclaimed materials, and can be installed indoors oroutside in a covered and protected area.
